Father Anglim Academy

2007-2008 PARENT / STUDENT HANDBOOK

“Meeting the needs of students with learning differences…

where every child’s diversity is honored and valued.”

August 2007

Dear Father Anglim Academy Parents and Students,

Welcome to the learning community at Father Anglim Academy!  We begin our sixth year with grateful hearts for the abundant blessings bestowed upon our school and gratitude for the opportunity to embark on another year filled with growth of mind, body and spirit.

Father Anglim Academy has a rich history in the Diocese of Venice as a program that has consistently and effectively reached out to students with learning differences.  The program has facilitated an understanding of how children learn and has translated that knowledge into a plan for learning that maximizes each child’s potential. At the core of the Father Anglim Academy philosophy is the belief that every student has the God-given right to develop his or her own special talents and abilities to their very fullest.

Research-based methodologies and instructional programs have been chosen as the vehicle for delivering academic instruction that systematically identifies deficits and prescribes the appropriate interventions.  Our caring and knowledgeable teachers are prepared to provide the very best education available through a team approach that enhances each staff member’s ability to reach every child.

At Father Anglim Academy, we recognize the critical role of families in the growth and development of each child’s potential.  To this end, parents are encouraged to work closely with the school in open communication and with sincere commitment to the educational, emotional, and spiritual goals of the school.  As your child’s first teachers, your insight is a valuable tool for guiding instruction and emotional growth in the classroom.

This handbook is a general guide to school policies and procedures and meant to provide useful information.  Father Anglim Academy does not limit its authority to the stated policies and regulations set forth in this handbook, but rather presents this handbook as a general guide by which responsible decisions can be made.  School policies and guidelines are binding for all students and parents and may be amended or added as the need arises.  Please take the time to read and discuss this information with your child and keep it for reference throughout the year.  Checking the handbook first can save a call to the office for information.  After reviewing the handbook, parents must sign and return the enclosed Agreement of Parent Responsibilities on or before the first day of school.

I look forward to sharing this school year with you, our Father Anglim Academy families, as we work together to make this a year that is filled with triumph and success for all.  May God bless each of you throughout this year in all that you do, and may His presence be a constant source of courage and strength for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

In God’s love,

Lori Moreau

Principal

Required Forms:  All students must have on file a current health examination form and immunization record, indicating completion of all required immunizations and exams.  A notarized medical authorization form must also be on file and the school.  A copy of the birth certificate is also required.

NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY

Father Anglim Academy welcomes on a space-available basis any student for whom our specialized curriculum and setting is determined appropriate.  Our school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, disability, national or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, admission policies, tuition assistance programs, and other school programs or activities.

REGISTRATION

Families are required to re-register by March 15th for the upcoming academic year.  This includes the payment of a non-refundable registration fee of $150.  Re-registration is open to families for whom tuition, fees, and other obligations to the school are current according to the agreement with the school.  Eligibility for re-registration is also subject to a review of academic and behavioral criteria as set forth in this handbook.  Students are officially registered upon receipt of the aforementioned documents and a signed tuition agreement and fulfillment of all obligations through the end of the school year.
