PARENT / STUDENT HANDBOOK
Meeting
the needs of students with learning
differences
where
every childs diversity is honored and
valued.
August
2007
Dear
Father Anglim Academy
Parents and Students,
Welcome to the learning community at Father
Anglim Academy! We begin our sixth year with
grateful hearts for the abundant blessings bestowed upon our school
and gratitude for the opportunity to embark on another year filled
with growth of mind, body and spirit.
Father Anglim Academy has a rich history in
the Diocese of Venice as a program that has consistently and
effectively reached out to students with learning differences. The program has facilitated
an understanding of how children learn and has translated that
knowledge into a plan for learning that maximizes each childs
potential. At the core of the Father Anglim Academy philosophy is the
belief that every student has the God-given right to develop his or
her own special talents and abilities to their very
fullest.
Research-based
methodologies and instructional programs have been chosen as the
vehicle for delivering academic instruction that systematically
identifies deficits and prescribes the appropriate
interventions. Our
caring and knowledgeable teachers are prepared to provide the very
best education available through a team approach that enhances each
staff members ability to reach every child.
At
Father
Anglim Academy, we recognize the
critical role of families in the growth and development of each
childs potential. To
this end, parents are encouraged to work closely with the school in
open communication and with sincere commitment to the educational,
emotional, and spiritual goals of the school. As your childs first
teachers, your insight is a valuable tool for guiding instruction
and emotional growth in the classroom.
This handbook is a
general guide to school policies and procedures and meant to provide
useful information.
Father Anglim Academy does not limit its
authority to the stated policies and regulations set forth in this
handbook, but rather presents this handbook as a general guide by
which responsible decisions can be made. School policies and
guidelines are binding for all students and parents and may be
amended or added as the need arises. Please take the time to read
and discuss this information with your child and keep it for
reference throughout the year.
Checking the handbook first can save a call to the office for
information. After reviewing the handbook,
parents must sign and return the enclosed Agreement of Parent
Responsibilities on or before the first day of school.
I
look forward to sharing this school year with you, our Father
Anglim Academy families, as we work
together to make this a year that is filled with triumph and success
for all. May God bless
each of you throughout this year in all that you do, and may His
presence be a constant source of courage and strength for the
challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
In
Gods love,
Lori
Moreau

July or August to determine appropriate instructional groupings for
Reading and

Each
new student is given a nine-week probation period in which to
demonstrate that enrollment at Father Anglim Academy is appropriate and in
the childs best interest.
If during this trial period, difficulties arise that are
consistently resistant to interventions attempted, the student may
be asked to withdraw from Father Anglim Academy. At any time thereafter
during enrollment at Father Anglim Academy, should a consistent
and pervasive problem interfere with a childs education or the
education of other students, possible probation and/or expulsion may
be required. This
policy is to protect the right of all students to
learn.
